Like skin, leather breathes, marks, and develops a patina. And like skin, it needs care to endure, shine, and gracefully stand the test of time.
Why care is essential
Neglected leather always tells the truth: it dries out, cracks, and loses its suppleness and strength. In contrast, leather cared for regularly retains its inner life: it stays soft, flexible, and resilient.
Caring for leather is not only a matter of aesthetics. It is about prolonging its strength, preserving its comfort, and honoring the bond it symbolizes whether with your horse or in your everyday life.
What to avoid
Some products, often designed for other uses, harm leather more than they help:
- Harsh soaps: they strip the leather of its natural oils and leave it vulnerable.
- Shoe polish: designed to create a glossy finish on fine leathers, it seals the pores, prevents nourishing care from penetrating, and eventually dries the leather out.
These products offer instant shine, but at the cost of the leather’s vitality.
What to choose
Like skin, leather loves what is closest to its own nature: rich, nourishing, protective ingredients.
- Vegetable oils that penetrate deeply, restoring suppleness and nutrition.
- Natural butters that soften and smooth the fibers.

Why I created The Riding Glow
For a long time, I thought caring for leather was a simple technical act. But over the years, I have come to realize it is much more: a ritual of presence, a silent dialogue between the hand, the material, and what it represents.
Caring for leather is also about honoring the relationship it carries: the horse, the movement, the elegance, sometimes even a memory.
Nourished by this desire to create connection and elevate these moments, I founded The Riding Glow: a young house dedicated to the art of prolonging leather’s radiance while enveloping the rider in a sensory experience.
